I post good and bad news articles in May, 2012 What's your choice?
There are two types of human hair: 5-α-reductase type 1 and type 2, which convert testosterone, a type of male hormone, into dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

DHT, which is produced at this time, is known to be the main cause of male hair loss. 5α reductase is known to have different biochemical and pharmacological characteristics and distribution according to organs. In the skin, 5α reductase type 1 is more distributed than type 2. In hair follicles (毛囊), type 5α reductase 1 is distributed across hair follicles, including mother papules, but mainly in sebaceous glands. In the case of type 5α reductase 2, it is found in the root of appearance, root of hair, and breast milk.

Avodat, a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that reduces DHT, has the advantage of inhibiting both type 1 and type 2 of the original oral hair loss treatment, compared to the existing 5-alpha reductase inhibitor inhibiting only type 2 enzymes. In addition, dutasteride, an adodot component, reduces scalp DHT concentration in a dose-dependent manner.

In the case of scalp, it is known that the more DHT concentration decreases, the more hair number increases. The study found that the DHT concentration reduction effect of adot was superior to that of finasteride and that there was little difference between individual patients. In addition, Avodat is the only oral treatment that has been proven to be beneficial in increasing the number of hair through clinical trials of male hair loss in Koreans. Through this clinical trial, it was found that it significantly improved hair loss in both subject photographic evaluation, tester photographic evaluation, and expert photographic evaluation. In addition, SAE (Sexual Function Inventory), known as a side effect of hair loss treatments, does not show a significant difference from the placebo group, so it is also highly tolerable.

"Abodat has been shown to be effective not only in O-shaped hair loss but also in M-shaped hair loss," said Park Hye-ryeon, head of the marketing department at GSK. "As we have developed protocols and conducted clinical trials only for Koreans, it will be good for Korean male hair loss patients."

GSK Avodat was approved by FDA as a treatment for prostatic hypertrophy in 2001 and has been widely prescribed worldwide for a long time as it has been proven to be effective and safe

As a result of the post-marketing performance survey (PMS) of GSK's prostate hypertrophy treatment, "Adodat Soft Capsule 0.5mg", side effects such as impotence and decreased libido were reported.

The Korea Food and Drug Administration (hereinafter referred to as the Korea Food and Drug Administration) announced on the 24th that it has ordered changes to the precautions for the use of the "Dudasteride Single Drug (Gyeonggu)" due to side effects reported as a result of re-examination of GSK's "Advodat Soft Capsule 0.5mg."

According to the Korea Food and Drug Administration, a six-year post-marketing use survey of 3,870 patients with benign prostate hypertrophy in Korea reported a 3.4% (131, 171 cases) of adverse drug reactions that cannot be ruled out.

Among them, 1.9% (72 cases, 75 cases) of impotence, 1.3% (49 cases, 49 cases) of decreased libido, and 0.8% (29 cases, 29 cases) of ejaculation disorders were reported, showing a high rate of development of genital system side effects.

The expression rate of significant adverse events was 0.1% (5, 5 cases), regardless of causality, and thrombotic stroke, lung cancer, pulmonary embolism, pneumonia, and diarrhea were reported.

In particular, a subgroup analysis of 76 long-term users who took the drug for more than two years showed that the expression rate of adverse drug reactions, which cannot be excluded from causality with the drug, was 5.3 percent (4 and 5 cases), with two cases of decreased sexual desire and one case of erectile dyspepsia and ejaculation disorder.

Regardless of the causal relationship, one case of pulmonary embolism and pneumonia was reported as a significant adverse event, and one case of unexpected adverse event was identified as pulmonary embolism, spherical facial dysfunction, dry mouth, and pneumonia, regardless of the causal relationship.
