Avodat? Damodat? What are the differences and side effects of hair loss copy medicine?
Generic drugs, which we often call 'copy drugs' and 'replicating drugs', are drugs made based on the pharmacological components of commercially available drugs. Once a new drug is discovered, the discoverer will be able to exercise the patent rights of the drug for 20 years and enjoy a monopoly in the market. When a drug's patent expires, other companies can manufacture and sell the same drug, and these latecomers are called copy drugs or generic drugs. Usually, it is cheaper than the original drug that enjoyed the patent right, and the existing original drug and formulation are changed.  From the patient's point of view, you may wonder whether it is okay to take these copy drugs, and whether the drug will be less effective or other side effects will occur compared to the original drug. In conclusion, you can take copy medicine. This is because copy drugs sold in Korea have passed the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's biological equivalence and interchangeability evaluation. The biological equivalence experiment is an experiment in which the original drug and the copy drug are administered randomly to the experimenter and the blood concentration of the drug's main component or active metabolite is measured to demonstrate that the bioavailability is the same. In other words, if the drug concentration in the body is statistically equivalent, whether the original drug or the copy drug is administered, the copy drug has passed the biological equivalence test.  Since the biological equivalence test is a test to check whether ingredients that have already been proven effective are present in the body at a constant concentration for a certain period of time, the procedure is simpler than clinical trials aimed at developing new drugs, and the number of subjects required is relatively small, with 24 to 36. There are many small pharmaceutical companies in Korea, and even these pharmaceutical companies have relatively easier access to biological equivalence tests than new drug development, so many copy drugs are sold on the market.  However, in biological equivalence experiments, the criteria for determining statistical equivalence of drug concentration in the body are complex and sometimes misunderstood. Statistical equivalence of biological equivalence experiments is indicated in Article 17 of Chapter 2 of the Drug Equivalence Test Standards announced by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and some misunderstand that copy drugs should not be taken because the underlined phrase in the photo is misunderstood as "test drugs are equal if they are between 80 and 125% of the efficacy of the Great Treaty".  It does not mean 80-125% of the drug's effectiveness, and the average difference between the comparative evaluation of the test drug and the grand treaty that passed the notice standard is theoretically about the deviation of the original drug by batch, so it can be seen as an equivalent drug in terms of drug effectiveness. Therefore, you can take the copy medicine. However, sometimes people buy dutasteride or finasteride directly from overseas due to its low price, which is very dangerous. This is because it is very likely that these overseas direct drugs have not gone through the aforementioned biological equivalence. Therefore, if you are considering taking copy drugs, it is desirable to decide whether the product is approved by the Korea Food and Drug Administration, and you can check the approval in the k-orange book of the drug safety country. * Drug Safety Country K-Orange Book (https://nedrug.mfds.go.kr/searchBioeq) Previously, copy drugs and original drugs had the same drug effect and side effects, but in some cases, drugs from specific pharmaceutical companies are needed. There are active ingredients that exhibit pharmacological action in the medicines we take, and inert ingredients that are necessary to make these active ingredients in the form of medicines. Inert ingredients include coating agents, stabilizers, fillers, flavoring agents, diluents, preservatives, pigments, etc., which usually have no effect on the body, but in rare cases patients may develop allergic reactions. It is difficult to find such a rare allergic reaction in a biological equivalence experiment with 24 to 36 subjects, so if you have an allergic reaction to a specific preservative or pigment, you should use a drug from another pharmaceutical company that does not contain these ingredients. Hair loss pills may require long-term use. Therefore, it is best to take the medicine that works best for you after sufficient consultation with an expert.
