 I'm Seok Ji-woong, the head of the Mammoth Hairline Clinic Seoul branch.As DaMo members have recently become more interested in overseas hair transplants, this column has written various statistics on global hair transplants and the current status of hair transplants in foreign countries and Korea.*The source of all future materials is the 2022 Practice Census Results of the International Society of Hari Restoration Surgery (ISHRS). **An updated version will be published sometime in 2024. The above statistics are the percentage of men and women who have undergone incisional surgery.In the case of incision method, 87.3% of men and 12.7% of women showed a much higher rate of trials in men than in women.  The above statistics are the percentage of men and women who have undergone surgery by non-excision.In the case of the non-cut method, 62.5% of men and 37.5% of women performed the non-cut method compared to the incision methodThe ratio has increased by about three times. This is in contrast to the current situation in Korea, and we will estimate it based on statisticsIn the case of foreign countries where non-intersecting is more advanced than in Korea, women also tend to prefer non-intersecting methodsIt can be judged that it is high. The above statistics are the percentage of the age group in which the surgery was performed.For men, those in their 30s were the highest at 29.3%, and for women, those in their 40s were the highest at 28.0%. From a trend perspective, it can be seen that the proportion of surgery performed at relatively low ages for men and at high ages for women is increasing, which can be estimated to be due to the timing of male and female hair loss.*No statistics were reported on the difference in the ratio of incision and non-excision by age group.    The above statistics are the ratio of men and women to transplant sites.It is a natural conclusion, but the scalp showed an overwhelming proportion in both men and women.For the rest of the area, everyone showed similar low levels, but eyebrows were high in women only.It is impressive that in Korea, eyebrow transplants are mainly performed by men, and women prefer makeup or tattoos, while in the world, women perform transplants five times higher.The above statistics are percentages for transplant parameters.In the case of primary surgery, 2000~3000 hair follicles were the most common, followed by 1000~2000 hair follicles and 3000~4000 hair follicles. In the case of secondary surgery, 1,000 to 2000 hair follicles were the most common, followed by 2000 to 3,000 hair follicles and less than 1,000 hair follicles.*What you can see from these figures is that overseas non-excision is very specialized in mass transplantation. In Korea, about 2,000 hair follicles are considered to be at the maximum level during non-intersection, while overseas, 6,500 hair follicles (about 16,000 hair) are transplanted.  The above statistics are the ratio of the number of operations to the time of satisfaction.About 70% were satisfied with the first transplant alone, and about 30% were satisfied with the second or more transplants, showing an average of 1.4 surgeries.It can be seen that the rate of reoperation is unexpectedly high, which is why it is related to mass transplantation. Westerners often have mass transplants because they have more hair loss than Asians, so it can be interpreted as a bias in statistics that performed the first surgery with the second surgery in mind rather than the failure of the operation.  The statistics above are the rates of incisions, non-incisions, and mixed methods in hospitals that use various methods.In both men and women, the proportion of non-excision was higher than that of incisions, especially in men, 75.4%, and 3 out of 4 people underwent surgery by non-excision, which is in stark contrast to Korea.In addition, the method of mixing incisions and non-incisions was very low at 3.3% for men and 1.4% for women, demonstrating that the mixing method implemented considerably in Korea is rarely implemented overseas and is very inefficient in terms of time and efficiency.  The above statistics are the percentage of collection tools used by hospitals that only implement non-cut methods.In most cases, we use the commonly used power collection instruments.On the other hand, the use of equipment that is not used in Korea is noticeable, which is an electric collection device with suction function. If you use the suction function, it becomes very easy to collect, but it has not yet been used in Korea due to customs clearance and approval from the Food and Drug Administration.In addition to this, the International Society of Hari Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) 2022 Practice Census Results has many statistics related to hair transplantation, but in this column, we only explained some of the things that DaMo members would be most interested in.In the following columns, I will explain a lot about the current status of hair transplants overseas and comparisons with Korea.

So, it's said that there aren't many people who actually lack biotin.​However, there are cases where biotin is naturally acquired.It is said that the acquired shortage can occur when eating raw eggs. It is said that avidin, an ingredient in the whites of raw eggs, binds strongly to biotin and prevents it from functioning. In addition, biotin deficiency can occur in taking anticonvulsants, alcoholism, pregnancy, isotretinoin (acne medicine), intestinal malabsorption, and long-term antibiotic use. If there is a lack of biotin, there may be symptoms such as hair loss, eczema skin rash, seborrheic dermatitis, conjunctivitis, various neurological symptoms, and depression, and symptoms improve when supplemented with biotin.​~This is the data that investigated the use of biotin and improvement of symptoms in several papers.You don't need to know in detail, but the symptoms that occurred when biotin was insufficient improved a lot after biotin supplementation This is what it's about.The conclusion of the paper states that biotin has no proven efficacy in hair and nail growth in healthy individuals.I'm sure taking biotin is helpful for hair loss that occurs when biotin is insufficientHealthy people who eat everyday meals have little biotin deficiency.
