A woman in her 20s, who is on the verge of becoming bald after undergoing hair transplant surgery, received tens of millions of won from a plastic surgery clinic after a lawsuit.

On the 6th, the Civil Affairs Department 18 (Director Cho Hu-ok) of the Seoul Central District Court announced that A won a lawsuit filed against two plastic surgeons of B, saying, "Pay 54 million won."

A underwent a hair transplant at B plastic surgery in February 2012. It was a surgery in which the scalp on the back of the head with a lot of hair was removed, the hair was separated, and then the hair was transplanted back to the left temple.

However, a few days after the surgery, the area where the scalp was removed turned black and became inflamed, solidifying into a wound measuring 22 cm long and up to 3 cm wide. As the hair did not grow again in the wounded area, A was almost bald.

In response, A filed a lawsuit against the hospital, saying, "Please give 250 million won for treatment and alimony."

The court said, "The hospital has the negligence of excessively resecting and unreasonably suturing the skin without carefully considering the area of the scalp to be removed," adding, "It is responsible for compensation for medical negligence, such as taking belated action without closely observing the seam area."

He added, "It is difficult to say that the hospital properly explained the risks and side effects of surgery before surgery." The court ruled, "A set the amount of compensation by adding medical expenses, lost labor, and alimony for mental damage."
