The article in question by 'Da Damo' is <Cyberworld without reason> on page 31 of the 10th. In the article entitled "Anonymous Rampant Abuse and Personal Attacks", Chosun reported the point that "the hair club strongly protested against the company on the Internet, saying that it "demeaned the hair" over the TV commercial of L Confectionary.
Joseon said, "On this day alone, about 30 anonymous messages threatening to boycott with harsh abusive language and violent verbal abuse such as 'Roiled X' came in‥As is common on the Internet site, common sense conversations were not made here," he said. "Collective verbal violence in cyberspace using 'anonymity' is rampant." As an example, he added, "The home page of writer Lee Moon-yeol, who published a column in the Chosun Ilbo, was temporarily closed because he could not endure the torrent of abusive language and verbal abuse."
In response, Daemo sent an official complaint e-mail to the correspondent and the editor-in-chief on the 10th. Shin Joon-cheol, the management of Daemo, said, "We are inundated with inquiries from members about the distortion report," adding, "We will file a formal complaint with the Media Arbitration Committee on the 11th."
"The Chosun Ilbo distorted some legitimate online protests by using abusive language without confirming why the advertisement was a problem, and caused the image to be tarnished by being a narrow-minded group that used abusive language," Da Damo said in an arbitration application. "The suspension of the advertisement is not due to indiscriminate verbal abuse and personal attacks, but rather Lotte Confectionary's own judgment that collected Da Damo's opinions."
Da Damo also pointed out, "Most of the 30 articles claimed by the Chosun Ilbo were complaining of pain from hair loss, and only two radical articles were deleted immediately by Lotte," and that "it arbitrarily exaggerated one case that indicated that common sense conversations did not work." In this regard, Lotte Confectionary explained, "We did not put down advertisements due to cyber terrorism, and Joseon's report is different from the truth."
The reporter in charge said, "There were many claims that were close to 'verbal violence' in the articles posted on the Lotte Confectionary website," adding, "We did not deviate from the purpose of dealing with the problem of cyberspace." Regarding Daemo's claim that "it is intended to defend the Chosun Ilbo's contribution when it became a problem," the reporter dismissed it as "a political matador to see it that way."</font></font></p> </td></tr><tr><td align="right"><a href="mailto:"><font color="#010183" size="2">Reporter Shin Mi-hee ( )</font></a> </td></tr><tr><td> </td></tr><tr><td><p align="right"></p><div align="right"><a href="http://www.mediaonul.com/comment_view.php3?ho=300&nu=14315#top"><font color="#010183" size="2"><b>- top</b></font></a><img height="1" src="http://www.mediaonul.com/img/pix.gif" width="40"> <a href="javascript:history.back()"><font color="#010183" size="2"><b>- back</b></font></a><img height="1" src="http://www.mediaonul.com/img/pix.gif" width="28"> </div> <center><hr noshade size="1"><font color="#666666" size="2">Copyright(c)2000.
