Hello.
My name is Lim Seung-soo, who has written books such as Capital Theory that Monkeys Understand, Marx Philosophy that Monkeys Understand, Chavez Faces America, and Works of Art that Changed the World.
I recommend my new book, <Youth> to do something else> has been published.
While giving many lectures to young students,
I put the things I really wanted to tell young students in one book.
It's not just a young generation theory or a book about economic hardship,
It is a book that contains concerns about the view of life and the world.
I hope it will be of any help to the lives of young students in their 20s and 30s.

Prologue: Update the navigation of life
I was visiting a publisher in Paju, Gyeonggi-do. I'm driving according to the navigation instructions, but I'm going to a strange place. Finally, when I went to the destination that the navigation taught me, it was a place where there were old houses in a wide field. There was no such thing as a publishing house even though I looked for it after washing my eyes. That's when I realized. Oh! You didn't update your navigation!
Almost all young people in Korea have run nonstop along the path taught by life navigation called self-development books. I added a minor to my major, a second foreign language to English, and passionate about my qualifications, reserved my current happiness and ran wildly. Life navigation has told us every moment that if we live like that, we have success and happiness in our destination.
However, recently, students committed suicide one after another in KAIST, the birthplace of the nation's science and engineering elite, shocking society. KAIST charges a punitive tuition fee of 60,000 won for every 0.01 credits below the standard grade, which is why fierce competition has occurred and young people who have not been able to overcome stress have killed themselves. According to the contents of the self-development book, numerous young people who pursued credits and qualifications in the cutthroat atmosphere of infinite competition are clamoring because they cannot get a job. Thanks to this, the country is a total chaos. Non-regular workers, who are unstable in employment due to low wages, are gaining popularity in the 880,000-won generation.
Is that why? Recently, sales of self-development books have plummeted. This is because life continues to be difficult even if you follow your own development book. They decided that these navigation systems are no longer useful.
One liberal think tank executive says this about the job crisis.
"If it's a problem that one or two out of ten college students are worried about, it's a problem for themselves, but if it's a problem that eight or nine out of ten college students are worried about, the social structure is a problem."
In a slightly different case, Jose Marty, who devoted his life to liberating Cuba in Central and South America against Spanish imperialism, said.
"If there is a poor man, even though he is neither lazy nor bad-tempered, that is where injustice lies."
What is the society of the Republic of Korea where we live to the youth? Did most of the young people suddenly become lazy or have a bad personality compared to before and fall into a difficult situation as a group? Genetically, what are the odds that most young people in a generation will develop laziness mutations, personality breakdown mutations at the same time? I don't know if those genes exist, but even if they do, the probability of those mutations occurring at the same time would be less than 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000001%.
If you're going through this as a group, even though you're not lazy and you're not bad-tempered, the bottom line is one. Society is wrong. That's terribly wrong, too.' Because the situation that people in their 20s are in now is terribly difficult. If you realize that the problem is not within you, but outside you, of course, you have to put a scalpel on the wrong part of the outside rather than inside us to solve the problem. However, most self-development books say that the problem is solved if an individual works hard to get grades, builds qualifications, and lives passionately. They're teaching you a hard way.
This life navigation, shouldn't we update it quickly? So I met young people who are updating their life navigation with their own power through ambitious attempts, away from their lives focusing only on credit management and building specifications. Of course, their lives may not be as recognized and recognized right now as U.S. President Barack Obama, Microsoft's Bill Gates, and broadcaster Oprah Winfrey. However, in their lives, there was a scent of hope that was different from the existing hope, and I met and talked with them, as if I were a bee drunk on the scent of flowers.
Life navigation is, after all, philosophy and worldview. This is because people tend to move in the direction of what they think is a valuable life, and the standard of valuable life eventually comes from their philosophy and worldview. People who think money is important in life will follow money, and those who think love is important will follow love. "What do I live for?" "What is a worthwhile life?" Your answers to these questions lead your life. In that sense, the reason why young people are wandering now is that they have lost the philosophy and worldview to lead them. I lost the answer to "What do I live for?" and "What is a worthwhile life?"
The book contains the stories of young people in their 20s and 30s who dream of different hopes, what I felt through meeting them, and serious reflection on 'What do I live for?' and 'What is a worthwhile life?' If this book is a small opportunity to update your life navigation during difficult times, there is no more joy as an author.
