The timing of hair loss varies greatly depending on an individual's genetic factors, hormones, and living conditions, but the most common type of hereditary hair loss (androgenic hair loss) can begin at any age after puberty.
Typically, the following are the trends that appear by age group.
Early and mid-20s (start stage): As the secretion of male hormones (DHT) is prevalent, it may start before or after the military discharge or during the college years. Mainly, it comes in the form of M-shaped hair loss with both ends of the forehead or thinning hair on the top of the head. Recently, the proportion of patients in their 20s has increased considerably due to stress and irregular eating habits.
30's (most commonly experienced time): The hair growth cycle shortens in earnest, noticeably increasing the amount of hair loss at the end of its life. When I look in the mirror or wash my hair, I often feel that my hair is thinned.
40's and beyond: As hair weakness from natural aging overlaps, existing hair loss speeds up or widens.
