[Overseas News] Korea-China plastic surgery technology exchange...Possibility of cooperative model

[Guangzhou (China) = Special Report Team] "The history and excellent technology of Korean plastic surgery are among the best in the world."

There was a place to exchange Korean and Chinese plastic surgery technologies, suggesting the possibility of success in the future cooperation model of the Korean and Chinese plastic surgery industry.

On the second day of the 2013 Korea International Medical Tourism Convention (KIMCT 2013), co-hosted by Financial News and the Korea Tourism Organization in Guangzhou, China, on the 12th, a seminar on medical technology exchange between Korea and China was held at Ginam Hospital in China under the theme of "Korea-China medical tourism that learns and grows together."

At the seminar, Korean plastic surgery medical staff announced stem cells, anti-aging, and reconstruction of wrong plastic surgery along with an introduction to plastic surgery in Korea. It also introduced Chinese medical staff such as hair transplantation and fat transplant regenerative medicine technology.

■ Cosmetic cosmetic surgery at the center of medical tourism

Kim Young-jin, chairman of the Korea Plastic and Tourism Association (Kim Young-jin, director of plastic surgery), introduced the history and excellence of plastic surgery in Korea through a presentation on the theme "The Direction of the Development of Plastic Surgery in Korea."

Korean plastic surgery clinics, which were born in the mid-1950s when doctors studying in the United States acquired advanced medical technology, are now considered to be in the highest position as cosmetic plastic surgery for Asians. Since then, cosmetic plastic surgery, which has been developed by maintaining a complementary relationship with reconstructive plastic surgery, has seen a sharp increase in demand since the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Chairman Kim Young-jin explained, "As plastic surgeons are more interested in cosmetic plastic surgery and continue to study new effective surgical methods, cosmetic plastic surgery in Korea has reached its current level."

In addition, Chairman Kim emphasized that Korea's cosmetic surgery is becoming a central axis of medical tourism amid the competitiveness of medical technology and the trend of the times. Cosmetic plastic surgery is becoming more common as changes in perception and interest in appearance change more openly and actively.

In particular, medical tourism centered on cosmetic plastic surgery began in the late 2000s as foreigners' awareness of the level of cosmetic plastic surgery in Korea increased due to the influence of the cultural Korean Wave.

Chairman Kim said, "The world's best competitiveness in medical treatments such as cosmetic surgery and skin," and emphasized, "In particular, we are proud that the surgical technique that changes the facial skeleton structure of Asians is the best in the world." He then said, "The level of cosmetic plastic surgery in Korea is known worldwide due to the globalization of Hallyu culture and the overseas expansion of dramas," adding, "The relatively low cost of surgery and accessibility in China, Japan, and Russia are a catalyst for Korean plastic surgery to attract overseas patients."

In addition, Chairman Kim said, "As beauty plastic surgery has become more common and has become the central axis of medical tourism, it is time for luxury goods to be made through guidelines and standardization for cosmetic plastic surgery."

■ Exchange of cosmetic plastic surgery technology between Korea and China

Recently, Korean and Chinese cosmetic surgery technologies were introduced. Cho Won-deok, head of Idea Plastic Surgery in Seoul, introduced plastic surgery technology through stem cells through an announcement of "Stem Cells and Anti-Aging." Recently, as it was announced that the cause of aging was related to the absorption of facial bone as well as the quantitative reduction of skin, subcutaneous fat, and muscle in the face, research on methods of transplanting local tax cells is increasing. In particular, it is attracting attention as a study has been published that fat stem cells can increase the survival rate of fat cells.

"If fat stem cells that are lost in the process of collecting fat are transplanted into fat or directly administered to the skin and wound area, transplantation will not only increase fat survival rate, but is also effective in wound treatment and wrinkle treatment."

Park Eun-soo, a professor of plastic surgery at Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital, explained the strengths and methods of Korean plastic surgery reoperation. Professor Park explained, "However, in the case of plastic surgery, the more difficult it is to re-operate, the better the surgery result. Recently, various advanced methods have been introduced, such as re-operating after regenerating scars caused by inflammation using stem cells."

Chinese plastic surgeons introduced China's local consciousness technology and hair transplants. Currently, research on regenerative technology using cells such as fat transplant Hair Transplant is a hot topic in the Chinese medical community, said Liu Hongwei, a professor at a hospital affiliated with Ginam University. He talked about cooperation with Korean medical staff who have the best technology for anti-aging and delayed aging technologies, along with an introduction to fat transplant PRP and the regenerative effects of stem cells.

Professor Fujuchi of the Southern Medical University Hospital, who gave a lecture on Hair Transplant, explained, "Hair Transplant refers to the entire process from hair roots to hair growth, preservation, and hair transplantation using hair cell division. In Hair Transplant, natural hair transplant technology is commercialized, and artificial hair technology is also rapidly developing."
