It's good for constipation, diet, high blood pressure, diabetes, and liver disease...
[Joseon Ilbo Reporter Lim Ho Jun]

The evening of the 29th. About 10 men and women in their 20s and 60s gathered at a soybean paste and soybean paste soup restaurant in Banpo, Seoul. Those who seemed to have never seen each other before greeted each other vaguely and shook hands, and soon sat face to face at the table.

When someone took out the homemade cheonggukjang, saying, "It's my first time to buy it and eat it," each person took a spoonful of the cheonggukjang, which was stretched out like thread, and began to 評.

When an elderly woman in her 50s said, "After eating raw Cheonggukjang for about two months, my blood sugar and blood pressure have dropped, so I think I will live without medicine now," a woman in her 20s said, "I lost about 3kg of weight after eating Cheonggukjang." This is a scene of an offline meeting of members of the Internet Cheonggukjang Club.

1. people who eat raw cheonggukjang

Recently, the number of people who eat Cheonggukjang raw rather than stew is increasing significantly. Sales of raw cheonggukjang, powdered cheonggukjang, and cheonggukjang makers soared tens of times as it was rumored to be a panacea to prevent and treat diet, high blood pressure, diabetes, liver disease, stroke, various cancers, and sexual dysfunction as well as special medicines for diarrhea and constipation.

In addition, the number of members of the "Cheonggukjang Dotcom" (www.chungkook jang.com ), an Internet club for eating Cheonggukjang, exceeded 10,000 in an instant. Seo Sang-soo, president of Gayawon, which sells raw cheonggukjang, cheonggukjang powder, and cheonggukjanghwan (丸) through the Internet and phone, said, "The sales of cheonggukjang have soared more than 10 times this year," adding, "In particular, powder cheonggukjang and cheonggukjanghwan are too crowded to put goods properly."

An official from LG Home Shopping said, "The sales of the Cheonggukjang maker have soared since early last year, and 1.5 billion won worth (about 20,000 units) was sold in January this year alone," adding, "Last year, LG Home Shopping alone sold 6 billion won, but we expect it to surpass 20 billion won this year."

It's wrapped in gimbap, lettuce, and cabbage to make it smell less

Don't be blind to the panacea... I can't cure the disease

2. How can I eat it when it smells bad

People who eat raw cheonggukjang argue that boiling it in stew destroys many useful physiologically active substances, such as Bacillus bacteria in cheonggukjang. "If you boil fermented soybean paste for about 5 minutes, microorganisms, enzymes, and nucleic acids in the fermented soybean paste are completely destroyed, and vitamin B group is also destroyed by about 50 percent," said Kim Han-bok, a professor of bioinformatics at Hoseo University. "It is good to eat about a spoonful of raw fermented soybean paste a day or put powdered fermented soybean paste in water."

The "Cheonggukjang Dotcom" has many ideas from members who easily eat raw Cheonggukjang, which is difficult to eat because of its smell. ▲Wrap it in well-baked seaweed and dip it in thick soy sauce, ▲Make kimbap with fermented bean paste and sour kimchi, ▲Wrap half a spoon of fermented bean paste and kimchi in lettuce, ▲Mix the fermented bean paste with ripe napa cabbage kimchi on hot rice, or ▲Mix it with fermented bean paste in your favorite drink and grind it with a blender, and most people with weak stomachs can eat it.

3. What kind of effect does it have

The effects that experienced people talk about in unison are related to stool (便). About 1.5 billion Bacillus bacteria in a spoon of raw Cheonggukjang (about 15g) have a strong intestinal (整腸) effect. Joo Yong-hwan (39), who attended the club meeting on the 28th, said, "I have been defecating once every three to four days for more than 20 years due to severe constipation, and after eating raw cheonggukjang, I defecate every day," adding, "I feel light as if my body will fly away."

Choi Seok-chae, a professor of gastroenterology at Wonkwang University Hospital in Jeonju, said, "As a result of a 22-year-old woman with severe constipation, the time for food to pass through the intestines was 29 hours, but when the woman was tested again after a week of eating raw Cheonggukjang, it was reduced to 9 hours. The subjective constipation symptoms felt by the patient have also improved significantly."

Experienced people, however, are not satisfied here. It is claimed that removing the stool causes weight loss, diabetes is better, blood pressure is lowered, sexual function is improved, and even hair loss is prevented and treated. Hyung-jae (28, graduate student), a member of the Cheonggukjang Dotcom, said, "The blood pressure of 180/120mmHg two years ago is currently maintained at 130/90mmHg. I didn't take medicine or exercise except for the Cheonggukjang."

Kang Tae-woon (59), a trading business, said, "At my age, everyone is worried about a decrease in sexual function, but after eating saengcheong-gukjang, it has improved," adding, "These days, whenever I go to a meeting, I do a good job of promoting cheonggukjang."

4. Good food, not medicine

Kim Sang-man, a professor at Samsung Cheil Hospital's obesity center, said, "There have been several obese patients who lost about 2kg after eating raw cheonggukjang for about two weeks, but after consulting in detail, it was found that the amount of food was reduced by eating raw cheonggukjang rather than losing weight due to it," adding, "However, it is clear that Cheonggukjang is a food that helps diet because it is rich in fiber and feels full even if eaten even a little."

Kang Hee-chul, a professor of family medicine at Shinchon Severance Hospital, said, "The physiologically active substances in Cheonggukjang may prevent various lifestyle diseases, but they cannot treat existing diseases. For example, patients with diabetes or blood pressure should not quit or reduce medicine." Professor Kang said, "The only way to protect your health is news, smoking cessation, abstaining from alcohol, and proper exercise."

----------------------------------------
Cheonggukjang is known to help blood circulation by removing blood clots.
You know that hair loss is related to blood circulation, right?
It is known that hair loss worsens due to poor blood supply to the scalp.
Then, wouldn't cheonggukjang also have some effect on preventing hair loss?
It's not a bad thing to eat... ^^
I'll try it for a couple of months and post the progress.
