We perform both FUSE/fue grafting as well as FUHT (strip method of harvesting the donor area). It depends on the patient to choose. We leave it to the individual patient to decide on the type of procedure they wish to opt for.We believe our patients can make their
own intelligent choice instead of being forced in to any one procedure.

FUHT is much cheaper, but it leaves a suture scar in the donor area that will require you to grow hair longer to keep the scar hidden. In strip FUHT, a hair bearing strip of scalp tissue is taken from the back and sides of the scalp. The strip wound is then closed using stitches/surgical staples. The hair above the suture covers it. The scar mark will be visible if
you buzz cut or shave off your hair ( it is normally not visible under a hair growth of 1 to 2 cms)

Similarly, FUSE/ fue is less invasive, without a stich and there is no visible scar even if the hair is buzz cut. but requires that we shave the donor area and the person does have to roam around with a shaven head appearance for a couple of weeks after the procedure. For some individuals, this may not fit with their social commitments. FUHT single strip can gives on an average 4500 to 5000 grafts depending on the laxity and density of the donor area. It is a more invasive process. The surgical suture necessitates use of pain medication for a few days after the procedure. In addition, the suture wound will be visible if the hair is buzz cut or shaved.

FUSE/fue is less invasive and stitchless procedure, pain medications are not required. The post transplant period is much more comfortable. In addition, FUSE enables extraction of hair follicular units from the beard and body donor areas.

We can also use the combination of both these methods i.e.-FUHT from scalp and FUSE/fue from the beard and body hair donor.

These two methods would requires the different number of days. FUHT is a fast procedure and 4000 to 5000 follicular unit grafts can be transplanted in a single day.
While FUSE/fue, is more time consuming procedure. On an average, 1000 to 1200 grafts can be transplanted in a single day procedure. Patients going for 4000 grafts, for example, may need 4 days of procedure.

Its worth noting, that the difference between the two methods is limited only to the extraction technique. The transplant of these hair in the recipient/bald areas and resultant growth is the same in both methods.In Fuht as well as FUSE/fue there are no permanent scars in the recipient area.For the body donor areas, we perform only FUSE/fue.
