Dutasteride On Track For Release in 2002

September 18, 2002 - Dr Garnier, the Chief Executive Officer of GlaxoSmithKline, gave a presentation at the Bear Stearns Healthcare Conference in New York today. Approximately 250 investors and portfolio managers were in attendance for the presentation. Dr Garnier discussed highlights of GSK's strategy for building the best pipeline in the industry.

In the presentation he confirmed the release of 11 new drugs over the next 2 years including Dutasteride. Glaxo is waiting for FDA approval of their 2 year study data before marketing Dutasteride which is expected to happen somewhere near the end of 2002.

On July 25, 2002 GlaxoSmithKline announced that it had received approval from the Swedish regulatory authority (MPA) for Dutasteride to be sold in Sweden, and thereby opening the door for it to be marketed in the whole of Europe.
