The products that are out in the market today that are proven to be effective in any way on hair loss are Rogaine, Propecia, and Avodart.
Minoxidil and Finasteride were accidentally discovered when patients were using the products to cure high blood pressure and treatment of enlarged prostates. The patients discovered unwanted hair growth on their body during the use of the products. .
Although these products have effects on hair loss, these products are primarily for men and are questionable to the hair loss patients whether they are worth the side effects.

오늘날 탈모에 어떠한 영향이라도 있다고 증명되어 나와있는 제품들은 로게인, 프로페시아,그리고 아보다트이다.
미녹시딜과 프로페시아는 고혈압 환자와 전립선 비대증 환자들이 이 약들을 복용하여 치료를 하다가 우연히 발견되었다. 환자들은 이 약을 복용하는 동안 몸에 원치 않는 발모를 경험한 것이다.
이 약들이 탈모에는 영향이 있으나 오직 남자들만을 위한 제품들이고 탈모자들이 부작용을 감수하고 복용을 할만한지에 대해서는 의문이다.

Minoxidil (Product name known as Rogaine) stimulates hair growth but is not recommended for high blood pressure patients and does not remove or block the cause of baldness which is DHT.
Finasteride (Product name known as the Propecia) is known to block 5-alpha reductase inhibitor which produces DHT when combined with testosterone. However, it only blocks type II 5-alpha reductase enzyme when type I 5-alpha reductase enzyme plays the main role in the DHT production.
Dutasteride (Product name known as Avodart) is a later discovery than Finasteride which is known to block both type I and II 5-alpha reductase enzyme.
Finasteride and Dutasteride are well known to have great effect of hair loss today but with serious and dangerous side effects in men, such as decreasing libido and causing male sexual disfuntion.

미녹시딜(제품명 로게인으로 알려짐)은 발모를 촉진시키기는 하나 고혈압 환자들은 피해야 하며 탈모의 원인인 DHT를 없애거나 막지는 못한다. 피나스테라이드(제품명 프로페시아로 알려짐)는 테스토스테론과 만나서 DHT를 생성하는 5알파 리덕타제를 막는것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 DHT 생성의 주요 역할을 하는 제 1형 5알파 리덕타제보다는 제 2형 5알파 리덕타제만 막는다.
두타스테라이드(제품명 아보다트로 알려짐)는 피나스테라이드보다 나중에 발견된 것으로 제 1형과 제 2형 5알파 리덕타제 모두를 막는것으로 알려졌다.
오늘날 피나스테라이드와 두타스테라이드는 탈모에 많은 효과가 있는 것으로 알려져 있으나 남성들에게 성욕 감퇴와 성기능 장애와 같은 심각하고 위험한 부작용을 동반하고 있다.

최근, 로니텐(제품명 DHT-방지제로 알려져 있음)이 FDA(미국 식품 의약품 안전청)로부터 탈모 방지와 발모에 효과가 있다고 승인을 받았다. 로니텐은 두피의 모공을 막는 DHT를 제거하고 신체내의 DHT 생성을 막으면서 새 발모를 촉진한다고 발표되었다. 4군데의 임상실험에서 로니텐은 남녀 모두에게 효과가 있고 어떤 부작용도 없이 체내의 DHT 생성을 80%에서 95%까지 차단시켰다고 평가되었다.
